Mycotoxin Urinalysis Testing

Personal mold exposure testing available across LA County, with a discreet at-home kit and certified lab analysis.

What Are Mycotoxins?

Mycotoxins are toxic compounds produced by certain species of mold. They can become airborne or settle on surfaces, where people may inhale or ingest them indirectly over time. Mycotoxin urinalysis is a personal exposure test that screens for metabolized toxins your body has already processed and eliminated through urine, rather than testing your environment directly.

This is a different question than "is there mold in my house." It's "has my body been exposed to mold toxins," which is a question a building inspection alone can't answer.

How the Testing Process Works

A testing kit is shipped directly to your home in discreet packaging with all collection materials included. You follow the enclosed instructions to collect a urine sample at home, with no lab visit required. The sample is mailed to a certified microbiology laboratory that screens for multiple known mycotoxins produced by certain mold species.

Most results are returned within several business days after the lab receives your sample. You'll receive a detailed report showing whether mycotoxins were detected and at what levels.

Important limitation to understand upfront: mycotoxin urinalysis is not a medical diagnosis and should never replace professional medical care. It also can't identify the source of exposure or confirm that a specific building caused a detected result, since mycotoxin exposure can come from food, outdoor environments, or other indoor spaces. For that reason, this test is most useful when combined with a professional environmental inspection like our Basic Mold Inspection or Total Home Health Inspection, not as a standalone answer.

When This Testing May Help

Common situations include suspected mold exposure at home or work, unexplained environmental illness concerns, chronic indoor air quality issues, wanting a follow-up after mold was found during a building inspection, or monitoring exposure during a remediation project happening elsewhere in a property.

Because we provide testing and inspection only, never remediation, ordering this kit doesn't come with a built-in reason to steer you toward a bigger service. If you're unsure whether this test or a full property inspection fits your situation better, call and we'll walk through it with you.

Mycotoxin Urinalysis FAQ

What does the test actually detect?

It identifies toxic compounds produced by certain molds, found in processed urine, rather than mold spores themselves. It's a biological exposure marker, not an environmental sample.

Can this diagnose mold illness?

No. It does not diagnose medical conditions or confirm mold illness. Any health concerns should be discussed with your physician.

Does a positive result mean my home has mold?

Not necessarily. Mycotoxin exposure can occur from many sources including food, outdoor environments, or other indoor spaces you spend time in, not just your own home.

Is this the same as mold testing?

No. Mold testing evaluates the environment for mold growth and airborne spores. Mycotoxin urinalysis tests a biological marker inside your body. They answer different questions and work best together.
